Subject: The story goes that the naga originally came to destroy the Buddha but was subdued by the mythical Garuda. Since then, it has been a protector of the Buddha. Most wihans (main temple) have some form of a naga (sometimes in the form of a staircase) leading up to the front doors. This was one of the more ornate ones that we saw in Thailand.
