Subject: This was a small part of the intricately inlaid soles of the reclining Buddha. They are quite beautifully done. The mere fact that they paid so much attention to the soles of his feet is amazing in itself (since soles are considered profane by Buddhists). The representation of the Reclining Buddha as being in Nirvana may have something to do with such ornate depiction of such a profane body part.
